AWC Group held its Annual General Meeting 2017 from 20th to 21st January at the Horizon Lakeview Resort Hotel in Naypyitaw.
Led by the Group Chairman U Htun Myint Naing, the meeting was attended by around 200 members of top management, middle management personnel and young talent from across the businesses. 11 key business units presented their key achievements and operating challenges in 2017, as well as their plans for 2018. In addition, the Corporate Communications department’s plans, as well as AWC’s charitable arm – Asia World Foundation – and its efforts to redevelop a not-for-profit road in Rakhine state were also highlighted.
The agenda for the Annual General Meeting 2017 – to reflect on the accomplishments in 2017 and analyse the challenges faced, develop the visions and goals for 2018, and build teamwork and leadership for the next generation potentials. The Group’s fundamental mission is to remain relevant and to contribute towards the development of Myanmar and its capabilities, as well as its people.
Building on the agenda of next generation talent development, leadership talks and training sessions by renowned external speakers and consultants, Dr Nu Nu Yin and experts from MDF Asia Myanmar were included as part of the programme, where employees learned about leadership and negotiation.
The Annual General Meeting 2017 concluded with the Chairman’s closing speech, where he addressed the need for closer teamwork, new ways of working in the changing environment, and the pursuit of new opportunities. Particularly, our transport infrastructure businesses, such as the Yangon International Airport, was emphasized as a key focus area. An important gateway providing the first impression of the country, the Group has made continued investments in upgrading the facilities and maximizing our capabilities to handle 20 million passengers per annum.
All employees were treated to a networking dinner after the meeting.
