Yangon International Airport Records 4.2% Passenger Traffic Growth in First Four Months of 2019 on The Back of New Routes

Yangon International Airport (“YIA”), Myanmar’s busiest international airport, handled 2.32 million passengers in the first four months of 2019, an increase of 4.2% compared to 2.22 million in the same period last year, following recent additions of new routes and destinations, its operator Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited (“YACL”) announced today.

The operator of the air gateway to Myanmar said the growth in traffic over the January-April 2019 period was driven by international passenger movements, which rose 7.9% compared to a year ago. Domestic passenger movements declined 3.1% over the comparative periods.
